Custodial Issues
1. Cleaning
A. Fill out and send an online work order to FE&P, if time allows, for help with the following issues:

  • Floors need buffing/polishing
  • Carpets need vacuuming and cleaning
  • Bathrooms need cleaning
  • Trash needs to be picked up
  • Hand sanitation stations need to be filled or fixed
  • Bathroom supplies need to be refilled
  • Glass doors and window need to be cleaned
  • Hall and stairwell rails need to be clean
  • Columns and ceilings need to be dusted
  • Window shades need to be raised or lowered
  • Lighting needs to be turned on
  • Provide building access before and after normal work hours

B. Contact custodian or day or night supervisor if an issue requires immediate or quick intervention

  • Spills and emergency cleaning for a variety of reasons
  • Unacceptable level of debris/garbage/refuse
  • Problem with level of custodial service
  • Doors being left unlocked in areas custodians have access to

2. Scheduled events

  • Print out weekly event schedule for custodians to keep them apprised of upcoming events

Carpentry

  • Broken/out of place ceiling tiles
  • Painting
  • Carpet repair/replacement
  • Wall repair
  • Repair & replacement of blinds

Electrical

  • Lighting repairs/bulb replacement
  • Electrical outlets

Elevator

  • Malfunctions of any sort
    • Call Elevator Shop at ext. 3600
  • Malfunction with person trapped in elevator – or other dangerous situation involving elevator–
    • Call Police Department at ext. 6000 AND call Elevator Shop at ext. 3600**

Furniture

  • Repair and replacement of furniture
  • Moving furniture
  • Ordering new furniture
  • Installing hardware for wall mounted objects
  • Oversee structural repairs

HVAC

  • A/C repair and temperature control

Plumbing

  • Flooding
  • Commodes running
  • Clogged toilet
  • Clogged drains

SecurityRice Police Department (RUPD) Dispatch – ext. 6000

  • Unauthorized entry into secured areas
  • Suspicious behavior
  • Vandalism
  • Bicycles chained to interior railings
  • Theft
  • Robbery
  • Assault
  • Medical emergency
  • Access to building or room
